Hari & Co International - Star Export House

Perishable Materials

Hari & Co International has jumped into the bandwagon to fetch and reach fresh Agricultural Produce to the nooks of the world.

Varied ago-produces from agro-climatic areas are a delight in millions of houses all over the world. Farmers from across the world grow and send the different varieties of fruit and vegetable grown in their country’s fertile farms. This cargo falls under the banner of “Perishable Agricultural Produce”. An agrarian country supports agriculture as a viable business which directly makes them an economically sound nation.

All produce and commodities that are of nature, and are likely to naturally decay or spoil rapidly or be destroyed in adverse temperatures, humidity or exposure to other environmental conditions are called Perishable Agricultural Produce. Perishable goods typically, may deteriorate over a time, whether processed or unprocessed, of agriculture, horticulture, apiculture, livestock, marine produce or forest produce. This could result in undervaluation of the products.

Preservation techniques like Refrigeration and Freezing need to be applied for conservation of perishable goods, especially that of food category.

The process of Cooling or Refrigeration preserves food by slowing down the growth and reproduction of micro – organisms and the action of enzymes that causes the food to rot. The introduction of commercial and domestic refrigerators significantly improved the diets of many countries by allowing foods such as fresh fruit, salads and dairy products to be stored safely for longer periods, particularly during warm weather.

Freezing is also one of the most commonly used processes, both commercially and domestically, for preserving a very wide range of foods. Potatoes by themselves require only a cool dark place to ensure many months’ storage but prepared potato waffles are stored in the freezer. Cold stores provide large volume, long-term storage for food stocks.

Perishable items, therefore, need a structured Export process in order to boost its competitiveness in the global market. The export enablement must be put into effect through a series of procedures, as being capable of facilitating all or one or more than one of the functions related to export of perishable goods.

The Export Documents facilitating the export of Perishable Agricultural Produce consist of a certificate, a test report, a packing list issued by various agencies which could be issued by a nodal agency.
