Non Perishable Materials

Sugar, Salt & Food Grains do not rot or degenerate in the absence of refrigeration. Nonperishable food items are foods that withstand months of un-refrigerated storage without spoiling or decaying. Since Non-Perishable goods enjoy greater shelf life having gone through various processes like sun dried, smoked sugared and canned, they make for excellent nutritious food. Canned goods, flour, dry cereals, rice, candy, and sugar are examples of non-perishable foods. Rice, oatmeal, and pasta have a long shelf life and make filling meals when prepared. Variety of nuts and dried fruits, like raisins, apricots and prunes provide energy and lots of nutrients and are shelf-stable. Sugar

Sugar has its sweet taste and has countless other utilities in food technology. It acts as a sweetener, preservative, texture modifier, fermentation substrate, flavoring and coloring and bulking agent.

Wheat

Wheat is high in protein. The hard, translucent, light-colored Durum is used to make semolina flour for pasta & bulghur, a cereal food made from the parboiled groats of several different wheat species. The hard Red Spring is hard and brownish which is used for bread and hard baked goods.

Rice

There are various varieties of Rice grown in different regions that give out a unique flavor of its own when prepared. The health benefits of rice are multiple which include instant energy, stabilizing blood sugar levels and regulating bowel movements. A great source of vitamin B1, rice can be used in making delicious Indian sweet dishes, rice pudding, Italian risottos and Spanish dishes or just plain steamed. Salt

Salt is essential for life. Everybody uses salt directly or indirectly on a daily basis. Salt enhances the palatability of our food.
